Just a little site update

Hi everyone, I hope people still check back every now and then. Sorry there hasnt been any updates for nearly 2 months. Basically I was majorly bogged down with my real world job, working 16 hour days + sometimes for decemeber '09 and january '10. Thankfully im back on a normal 9 - 5 working schedule with work now so i can get back to experimenting with ideas for my little resin toys in my spare time. :)

I've had some major league ideas this week infact and getting the ball back rolling in a big way this weekend. Purchasing some new paints to play with, maybe some new resin, finishing off the new Ozzel master to start casting from and getting the new design for it finalized in my head and on paper.

I also found the time to paint a new canvas this week which has helped immensely with getting the ideas flowing again. :)

I'll try to get some photos done this weekend if I get chance with getting the master finished up (hopefully).

And I need to post up on my flickr account some of the customs and stuff I did at the end of last year and havent gotten round to posting.

Anyway, a bit of a ramble but I wanted to post something and not just leave the site blank until the next release is ready.

I hope everyone gets all the toys, gadgets, games and booze they were after this year. I certainly have haha.

Next year we should see some new toys coming from me, I've got a few ideas bouncing around my brainium. And you guys will be the first to know about them on here. :) some Ozzels, maybe a small run of illuminoids and some completely new fellas too.

Right I best stop typing as I only woke up a minute ago and my brain isn't fully awake yet haha.

Hoodoo Voodoozzels SOLD OUT!

Hi guys,

The Hoodoo Voodoo Ozzels have now been finished and the photos taken so I will be putting them onsale this Wednesday 11th Nov 2009 :)

Im really pleased with how they've come out and looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks to them.

Tonight after work I will be putting up some of the photos I took yesterday of them in their natural environment so I will put up a link on here and on my twitter feed.

Hoodoo Voodoo Ozzel colourway coming next week!

Hi all,

I thought I would put up a quick post on here for the peeps who dont follow me on twitter where I have been putting up W.I.P. tweets about the new Ozzels. :)

I have been regularly posting up photos from my phone showing the various stages of painting, the badge making, the box construction and from last night a camera phone photo of the fronts of the new ozzels. You can see the photo tweets here if you've missed them : porlzilla twitpic

Free iPhone wallpaper - Monkey monkey

Hi everyone,

I became one of the iPhone number at the start of the month and being inspired by looking at some awesome vector art on Flickr I decided to make a wallpaper for my phone. And while I'm painting the next set of Ozzels I thought I'd put up the wallpaper if any of you with iPhones would want it. :)

New Ozzel Colourway run on the way

Hi everyone,

Thanks to a commissioned Ozzel I've just finished I've come out of my post iLLUMUNOIDS 'slump' with a new colourway design and some fresh new inspiration and ideas. :) hooray!

I've gotten so excited about making the new colourway that i've cast out all 10 Ozzels since the weekend and now trying to squeeze a last 2 out before I retire the mould.

Dont worry though its not the end for the little Ozzels. My mould, which I think i've been very lucky with, has lasted for a very long time is now unfortuntely tearing and tearing more with each cast. So my plan is to chunk up the mould to use in the new silicone mould and make slight alterations to the Ozzel and make effectively a Series 2 version. :)

So this up coming run off Ozzels will be the last of Series 1 as it were before I make a new mould and slight alterations to the master. Mainly just tidying up from my last master which was a 'fixed' cast anyway and seeing if i can add in some little details etc.

Also my girlfriend has been working on an exciting little project which will show up on here soon which has also gotten me double excited about getting on with my little projects. She's been working really hard over the last week with her project so hopefully it will come to fruition soon and I will give you all a news update.

So, I thought I would update you on whats been happening or at least some of the plans since the iLLUMINOIDS. Keep an eye out for some more progress updates over the next couple of weeks.

iLLUMINOIDS onsale at 6pm (uk time) tonight!

Hi all,

At 6pm tonight the iLLUMINOIDS are going to be onsale. Ready to start their new adventures in the big wide world! :D

I've finished making the badges for the little fellas and they are now all boxed up and ready to go. :D Heres a bit of blurb thats on the back of their Gocco Printed boxes :

"The little iLLUMINOIDS are created in pairs from a simple spark of life when someone makes a screen using a gocco printer. Not happy simply being thrown in the bin once their jobs were done they've set out to make a name for their little selves in the big wide world. Shame the one spark in their heads has been and gone, the little blighters are pretty dim now!"

Each of the iLLUMINOIDS is an individual too, each bulb cracks and mottles differently when flashed.

iLLUMINOIDS : arriving by the start of next week

Hi All,

Its been a little while from the last post. I've been slowly working away on my new resin and gocco bulb toy. :) And Im happy to say they are finished!! All that is left is to make the little badges to go with them which I will be doing this week. The boxes are gocco printed and constructed and the iLLUMINOIDS are sitting in them waiting for their adventures to begin.

There will be 6 pairs on sale hopefully at the end of this week. I'll have to dust off my web knowledge again to update the ozzelorium page haha.

There is only 6 pairs for sale this time because I dont use that many Gocco Bulbs, and i've only managed to save 12 from the bulbs i've used in the past. I used to throw them away before I thought of using them to make little characters. whoops.

Anyway, enough rambling for now. If you are on the mailing list you will receive an email about them going on sale and I will also put an update post on here by the end of the week with photos. :)

2 Custom toys now available in Customs Shop

Hi everyone. Im running a little short on space in my bedroom so I've decided to put two of my custom toys i've painted for shows up for sale in the Customs Area of the Ozzelorium.

The first is a Mini Munny called Mr. Hyde which I painted for the "Show Me the Mini Munny" show at Go Go Plastic in Birmingham last year.

And the second is a Plushform that I customised for the First Annual Plushform Show at Shoparooni in Ohio, USA. I added 2 extra material arms and a tail to turn it into the little cheeky monkey from my Monkey Loves Oranges Gocco Print. One of the prints will be tucked in with the little monkey's box too ;)

Anyhoo, hope you guys like them.

The Resin Collective : Resin Toy Show

Hi all, I thought I would give you a quick update on whats been going on in the world of Porlzilla. Well updates have been a little quite as I've been slugging away trying to get my new toy : The iLLUMINOIDS all made up. A little update on them if you havent seen them on my flickr photostream they are a mixture of resin bodies with used Gocco PG-5 bulbs for the heads. Im really pleased with how they are coming along but they have been slowed slightly because of the Resin Collective show shown in the banner above. :)

We were asked if we would like to submit some peices to this show at Red Hot Robot's shop in america (if you click the banner you can shoot over to their site) which is showcasing loooooads of amazing Resin Toy artists that are down for making their own toys and getting them out there. :) Unfortunetly Jon is major league busy painting customs up for people, check them out on his flickr photostream, so im submitting 2 peices for it.

I've been doing a custom iLLUMINOID and a new toy i've had half finished for a while. More updates soon as I need to get them finished off haha.

Anyhoo, a bit of a longer post than i thought it would be. Head on over to Red Hot Robots site and check out the full artist lists, and from what i've seen from some submissions already there is gonna be some amazing stuff there!

X-Ozzels Sold Out!

Wow!! I dont really know what to say other than that! Its been a great response to the X-Ozzels to sell out in a little over a day. Knocked my socks off a little bit that has haha. Thanks so much to everyone that managed to get one. They will be whisking their way to you this week.

Keep checking back for updates on the next projects and toys coming from us. I have a new toy coming soon (i'll be getting to major work on it now I've finished the X-ozzels) which im really excited about.

X-Ozzel's on sale

As the title and above image show, the latest colourways of the Ozzel's are available for sale in the Ozzelorium! :D ( a little later in the day than I hoped, but hangovers are a pig haha)

Like the Bubbleheart Ozzels there are 2 colour versions of the X-Ozzels. One colour version being 5 Jungle Camo Ozzels, the other version being 5 Desert Camo Ozzels.

Just like the Ozzels before them they are handmade in resin plaster and hand-painted. Each one is an individual, no camo pattern, black oil or blood splatters are the same. :)

Im really really pleased with how they turned out and hope you guys do too.

Koppo's Sold Out and New Ozzel Colourway coming soon

Koppo's are now sold out in the Ozzelorium! Wowzers that was quick! :D

And coming 1st February there is a new colourway of the Ozzels. 10 Resin Plaster Ozzels split 5 and 5 between 2 colour versions. These Ozzels have a little story that will continue with another short colourway in a few months time and im really excited about them! :)

So check back on the 1st of February to see the first Ozzels of 2009 when they will be onsale in the Ozzelorium

As the banner above says, Merry Christmas and Happy new year from us here at Porlzilla.com.

Our first year of making designer toys has been a great learning experience and brilliant fun, and we hope to carry on with our creations in 2009.

Starting the new year we have the first run of Jon-Paul's brand new resin toy called The Koppo. Expect to see these really really soon. Also, there will be a new colourway of Ozzel's coming mid-january. Similar to the Bubbleheart Ozzels being 5 of one set of shades and 5 of another. There will be a new resin toy coming from Porl hopefully not too late into the new year called iLLUMINOIDS.

We hope you keep checking us out into the new year and like our new projects. We're pretty darn excited about them! :D

midwest plushform show 2008

Hi All,

I dont know if many of you have heard about the first Annual Mid West Plushform show at Shoparooni in Cleverland. Well thanks to top uk customizer James Yeah? we along with several other UK artist's were invited to contribute. Its a great honour to be asked along with UK peeps such as Okkle, Lex and Sneaky Raccoon!!

Unfortunetly Jon didnt manage to get his finished in time due to other projects. And mine only just got there in time, I tell you it was a tense day on the saturday I sent it!! haha.

The Plushform I did is based on the Monkey Loves Oranges Gocco print I made a little while ago. I added arms and a tail to make the little cheeky monkey shape. After a little bit of a tricky start (its such a different type of material to vinyl or resin to paint) I really got into it and enjoyed painting the little fella! You can see bigger images of him by clicking the image at the top of this post.

Thankfully he got there safe and sound and is sitting in-between (what looks like a 100 or so) all the other amazing entries! phew. Check out the auction page to see them all. Its amazing to see how different people see ideas for the same shape.

Anyhoo, Check out the Plushies and if your into any of them, bid. The whole show is for a great cause. :) toys for tots
